My Story
Once an Indiana girl, always an Indiana girl- or so I thought...
Even native Hoosier's don't really know what the term means, but it's one I have always used with pride.
I grew-up in a Quaker town (yes, really), attended a small-town (now much bigger) high school, and
went off to Ball State University for college. I graduated in May 2013 with a degree in
Elementary Education and planned to teach 1st grade in my hometown.
Not too long after that, a nice boy from that high school I went to messaged me and we
went on a date. He left for Army Basic Training and took my heart with him.
9 months later we were married and we moved to his first duty station in Georgia.
After 3 years in Georgia, we were sent to Fort Campbell, in Clarksville, TN where I taught 3rd grade.
Around our year anniversary of living in Tennessee, my life was turned upside down when my husband announced that he wanted a divorce. Shocked. Embarrassed. Ashamed. Blindsided. I couldn't believe that the "D-Word" was happening to me, not at 28, not to someone who strived to live a quiet, faithful life in Jesus' name.
But it did.
Now I'm here. However you found me whether it's at the beginning of my story or somewhere in the middle, I hope my bold and unashamed words challenge you as well as bring you peace, hope, and nothing but love.
Just,
Marisa Mae
